Pevensey Castle Sunset, A medieval castle built A.D 290. Used by Saxon King Harold II in 1042, in 1066 battle of Hastings used by William the Conqueror. 1190-1220 the twin-towered gatehouse was built the earliest known example. It was last used in WWII as a military base, in case of German invasion. Now part of English Heritage a tourist attraction of Eastbourne.
